Satisfaction is the international touring tribute show dedicated to the “World’s Greatest Rock & Roll Band”. This glamourous show has been in production and touring since 2001 with over 2000 performance dates to its credit. It is the only full time touring show of it’s kind in the world. This highly acclaimed production showcases the most authentic cast and costuming audiences have ever witnessed. The likes of Mick Jagger, Keith Richards and supporting cast bring a colorful performance to over 50 years of classic hits. Featured in dozens of national newspapers, magazines and television ads as the greatest show ever honoring the Rolling Stones and their legacy.

In 2005 the group became the first ever Rolling Stones show on the Las Vegas strip as they debut as part of the award winning show “Legends in Concert” to outstanding reviews. The Las Vegas Sun quotes “They shined just like the real Stones on the strip” and Showbiz Magazine stated “They’ll have you in the aisles just like Jumping Jack Flash”.

In 2006 the show became a major draw on the popular performing arts center and theatre circuit with several sold out performances. The fall of 2007 saw the group honored to be featured on the CBS News New York special on the ever popular rise of tribute shows. CBS News advised audiences…”Go get “Satisfaction”.

In 2008  they were honored to be contacted by Paramount Pictures and the IMAX Corporation to assist in promotion of the new Martin Scorsese produced documentary film “Shine a Light”. The film highlights the Rolling Stones performance in New York City along with vintage clips from the past. In 2010 the show received their highest accolades ever as they were approved by The Rolling Stones to perform long term engagements annually with the Walt Disney Corporation. The group has now launched a new project entitled “A Symphony For The Devil” which features the group performing with symphony orchestras around the world.

Gene Vincent – The Civic Center Years

Gene Vincent

On Friday, March 6, 1959, Gene Vincent came to the Civic Center in Bartlesville, Oklahoma, along with Carl Smith and other singers. Although the Blue Caps were advertised in the paper, they didn’t show up. A 5 piece band backed up all the acts.

Jim Van Horn went to the concert and he shares his experience:

In the May issue of 1956, the Hit Parader had a cover story with the Gene Vincent song Be Bop A Lula as being number one in the west. It was probably Gene’s biggest hit and it has been sung by just about every rock star down through the years!! Some of the various artists versions:

Paul McCartney talks about Gene Vincent:

Articles are still being written about Gene Vincent. This particular cover story was published in Vintage*Rock magazine in the Spring of 2013. Gene ultimately lived a tragic life, and at the age of 36 died. But ‘Be Bop A Lula’ lives on, and his rendition will probably be the best of all. Elvis, Jerry Lee Lewis, Paul McCartney and John Lennon all had their versions, but to date, nobody has released it into a number one hit like Vincent did. And I would guess that is because Gene Vincent’s soul was so etched into the recording, it would be impossible for any great singer to make it any better than the original!

Everybody bought their records at Kreigh’s or L A McKinney Music Company. I’m sure many hundreds of Gene Vincent records were purchased through the years at these popular music stores:

+++ This post is a snapshot of a moment in time. For the past 8 years I have been compiling and organizing the history of every band that has ever played in Bartlesville, Oklahoma from the early 1900s through 1979. I had no idea of the mountains of information that would be involved when I first started the project, but we are almost finished with our database, and this year I will be publishing ‘THE CIVIC CENTER YEARS’. Every week I will be taking excerpts from this project and posting them on my blog. Believe me, when I finally get this book published, it will be the most complete and comprehensive book on the early Bartlesville music scene to date! If you have information, pictures, paper memorabillia, etc that you would like to share with this project, please  email me at kathy1968@gmail.com. You can also mail information to me at P.O. Box 814, Bartlesville, Oklahoma 74005. Hurry! In the interim, I will be posting blogs about The Flippers, Rodney Lay, Spider and the Crabs, the Blue Things, Fungus, the Four Faces of Eve, the Acemen, and all of your favorite groups! Every Friday night at 9:00 I will be posting a new group bio from the old days. Yep, I remember Friday and Saturday nights at the Civic Center when at 9:00 sharp the dance started! And at midnight sharp the dance would stop! GO WILDCATS!
